Wannamoisett Country Club

Rumford, RI

The use of a seal as a club logo is not particularly unique but when you combine the great history of championship amateur golf at Wannamoisett and the objects in the club seal you have a keeper.  The club originated in 1898 and in 1916 the club hired Ted Codman, a renowned jewelry and silverware designer, to design the club logo.  Codman conceived the logo as a shield within a circle. He suggested the elements that appear in the four corners.

The Goat

The Eagle

The Fireside

The Rhode Island state seal.

The final one signifying a return to dignity and Honor.  Rhode Island punches way above its weight class in golf and the Wannamoisett logo is a sneaky good and historic seal.
