Maidstone Club

East Hampton, NY

The Maidstone Club is simply one of the true tony clubs for outside recreation in America. The club derived its name from the original name given to the town it resides in, East Hampton.  Maidstone is a town in Kent, England where some of the original settlers to the area were likely from. The club logo, the whale, is distinctive with little to no competition in the golf space and conveys that Maidstone is more than a golf club.

Unlike its neighbors Shinnecock and National, which are staunch golf clubs, Maidstone is where the aristocracy of America began recreating in the 1890’s.  Names like Vanderbilt and J.P. Morgan made Maidstone their Hamptons playground.  The Willie Park designed golf course, restored by Coore & Crenshaw runs across the Gardiner Peninsula and only the dunes separate portions of the golf course from the Atlantic Ocean.

The blue whale logo reeks of regal. It’s a symbol of one of America’s most exclusive and refined clubs of leisure.  It’s also a logo born to be embroidered on a 4-ply pastel cashmere sweater.
