The Misquamicut Club in Watch Hill, Rhode Island is one of the sneakiest and most stealth great clubs in America… which is just the way they want it. Located on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean the clubhouse is one of the most regal landmarks in the state. With holes originally designed by the likes of Tom Bendelow, Willie Anderson, Seth Raynor and Donald Ross “Squam” is an architectural study of the highest order.
The season is short but the fun factor on what is primarily a Donald Ross golf course now is off the charts. The sweeping inland holes on the front nine are in stark contrast with the back nine which plays down to the Block Island Sound. A reciprocal agreement with Fishers Island amplifies the bonafides of the club and its membership. The flying golf ball logo is a specific incarnation of a template logo used by other clubs but very few have an incorporated date of 1895 to accent their logo. The blending of gold and green with the use of red for the 1895 is rich and clean. Misquamicut is a very special place managed by people with the best reputations in the industry. This is already more attention than they or the club would like to receive.
