Back Nine Press

Back Nine Press was founded by James Sitar in 2020 after years of working on the central idea: acquire, edit, and publish golf books the game deserves. Golf has the greatest long-form writing of any sport, and yet there were few golf books being published in the last two decades. So with that, Sitar decided to own the niche and publish books and writers that deserve a larger audience.

Since 2020, Back Nine Press has published 15 golf books that range from children’s books to limited edition coffee-table books, from memoirs and essay collections to club histories. Back Nine Press is dedicated to publishing great stories that define golf today, personal reflections on the meaning of the game, and compelling writing about the people who are forging the future of golf.

There’s something for every golfer at Back Nine Press. They’ve recently published a wide variety of books about:

They’ve got a lot of books in the works, including a book by Golf Digest writer Joel Beall about LIV Golf vs. the PGA Tour, a historical look at Black caddies in the South, the top 50 tournaments of all time, and the life and works of architect Alexander Findlay.
